Anne Mitchell
Anne fell in love with a Thoroughbred Horse named Flint and a German Shepherd Dog named Jill when she was 7 years old and moved from Ohio to Michigan with her family. Jill and Flint “belonged” to the neighbors, but Anne spent a lot of time with them throughout her childhood and credits them with raising her to understand that humans belong with non-humans and to appreciate the magic and mystery of this glorious Planet we all share.
Always committed to social justice and the idea of working to make this world a better place, Anne has become a student of Native Plants, non-human Animals and the ideas of Interbeing as shared by Thich Nhat Hahn and Engaged Buddhism. Plants and Animals have so much to teach us if we simply choose to listen and learn. She believes that narrative story telling has the ability to change minds and hearts and has supported film projects like Christspiracy, How to Make Drugs and Forever Home and writes about assimilating this learning into daily life. She lives and learns on 26 acres in Southwest Michigan with her husband, Dog and a myriad of wild and free neighbors including Birds, Deer, Turkey, Raccoons, Frogs and Insects to name but a few.
