In Defense of Worms
“Live bait sold here!” – a phrase we’ve all come across at one time or another, a phrase beyond which lieĀ thousands of Worms, ripped from the soil, packed into small Styrofoam containers, and stored in refrigerators to be sold as bait.
Join us in putting an end to the violent exploitation of Worm lives and freedom.
This pilot project begins in May, 2025 with a regional movement to buy and release Worms relegated as bait. At each location where Worms are purchased, a flyer will be left with the store owner and on the fridge, informing and imploring people to get involved.
From there, the Worms will be brought to community gardens across the Chicagoland area, where they will live out their days in rich, nutrient-dense soil while contributing to the growth and vitality of locally grown, vegan food in urban areas.
If you have questions about this project, or would like to collaborate with us, please reach out to Olivia at olivia@kerulos.org.
We hope you’ll join us in this movement for Worms.
Please explore the many ways you can get involved with this community-based project!
