One day, while purchasing food at a “pet” store for April, a beautiful Embden goose who lived with the Bradshaw family, a young Yellow-naped Amazon parrot called out, Arriba! Shortly thereafter, Panama joined our family.
Panama is now in his 60’s. He had been wild caught, most likely in Costa Rica, and spent several years on a boat. He is very much the patriarch of the family and devoted to his human and other animal family. However, despite his love and dedication to us, we know and appreciate the terrible loss and sacrifice he has endured having been torn from his wild family and brought to live in captivity. For as much as we love and care for him, and do everything to shape life to support his rich parrot inner and outer landscape, he remains a captive.
